Paulo Roberto Frade Laender (Teófilo Otoni, MG, 1945) is a multifaceted Brazilian artist, working as a painter, printmaker, architect, sculptor, and designer. Laender began his artistic journey in 1962, studying painting with the renowned artist Maria Helena Andrés. He later studied printmaking at the Guignard School and was part of the Oficina group in the early 1960s. His first solo exhibition took place in 1964 in Belo Horizonte. In 1965, he participated in the 7th São Paulo Biennial and studied printmaking at the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM/RJ).

In 1970, Laender graduated in architecture from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where he also taught until 1981. During this period, he dedicated himself to various artistic fields, including sculpture, painting, printmaking, and design. In 1978, he participated in the Panorama Atual da Escultura Brasileira at the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (MAM/SP) and the Barroco Brasileiro exhibition at the Brazilian Trade Bureau in New York. In 1983, he founded and directed the Brofen-Laender jewelry and foundry workshops in Belo Horizonte. During a trip to North America and Eastern countries in 1985, he conducted research that influenced his works. In the same year, he exhibited his sculptures at the OWL Gallery in San Francisco, USA.

In the 1990s and 2000s, Laender continued to hold exhibitions of sculptures, paintings, and jewelry, participating in group events such as Contemporary Art from Brazil at the Ledis Flan gallery in New York and Encaixas at the L´Angelot gallery in Barcelona. In 2008, he published the book "Paulo Laender," which compiles his trajectory and works.
