Rodrigo Bivar

Rodrigo Bivar was born in Brasília in 1981 and currently lives and works in São Paulo. He holds a degree in Fine Arts from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP) in São Paulo. His artistic practice focuses on painting as a means of visual investigation, developing a unique language that navigates between figurative and abstract elements.

Over the years, Bivar has received significant recognition, including the Acquisition Award from the Centro Cultural São Paulo in 2008, which led to his first solo exhibition at the institution. Since then, he has presented solo shows at Paço das Artes (São Paulo) and the Fundação de Arte de Ouro Preto (MG).

Since 2005, his work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including notable events such as the International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil (2011 and 2013), Panorama da Arte Brasileira at the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (2011), 7SP – Seven Artists from São Paulo at C.A.B Contemporary Art in Brussels (2012), A Contemplation of the World – Paralela 2010 (São Paulo), Grau Zero at Paço das Artes (2009), and 2000 e 8 at SESC Pinheiros (2008).

Bivar's work has gained increasing visibility in the contemporary art scene, earning him nominations for the PIPA Prize in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. He is currently represented by Galeria Millan and Athena Contemporânea.
