Ricardo Ribenboim

Ricardo Ribenboim is a Brazilian cultural manager, graphic designer, and visual artist known for his diverse career in the visual arts and cultural project management. His journey began at the age of 17 when he founded the Escola de Artes da Hebraica in São Paulo, aiming to foster artistic activities for children. In 1972, he enrolled at the Santos School of Architecture, studying under prominent artists such as Yutaka Toyota, Evandro Carlos Jardim, Luiz Paulo Baravelli, and Carlos Fajardo.

Alongside his academic training, Ribenboim developed graphic design projects and co-founded the Gema Design Office in 1986. In 1996, he became the technical director of Paço das Artes, where he launched the Temporada de Projetos to support young artists. The following year, he assumed the presidency of Instituto Cultural Itaú, where he introduced the Rumos Itaú Cultural Visual Arts program and helped modernize the institution, including the creation of the Itaú Cultural Encyclopedia.

In 2002, Ribenboim founded Base 7 Projetos Culturais, focusing on cultural planning and management. He was instrumental in projects like exhibitions at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum and the creation of the Frans Krajcberg Space in Curitiba. As an artist, he explores the intersection of visual arts and graphic design, using diverse materials and media, including new technologies.

He has participated in prominent exhibitions such as the São Paulo Biennial, Havana Biennial, and Open Air Venice. Notable urban interventions include "Bólides Marinhos" and contributions to Arte/Cidade III. In 2019, Ribenboim celebrated 50 years of his career with the solo exhibition "De Tudo Fica um Pouco" at Galeria Raquel Arnaud, showcasing works that reflect on social and political issues.

Ricardo Ribenboim continues to be an active artist and cultural leader, engaging with the evolving landscape of global contemporary art.
