Paula Klien

Paula Klien is a Brazilian artist from Rio de Janeiro who explores the invisible, working with accidents in the fields of spirituality, transcendence, silence, and surrender. Inspired by ancient Eastern philosophy, Klien uses water and ink to paint large-scale papers and canvases. She also works in photography, having conducted fashion campaigns and editorials and published two portrait books, titled “Pessoas Me Interessam” and "It’s Raining Men". Among her notable portraits is the last one of Oscar Niemeyer, taken in his room at the age of 104.

Paula Klien develops her lyrical and abstract expressionist paintings using water as the primary medium, whether in her studio or within rivers. The artist delves into spirituality and transcendence, drawing inspiration from Eastern philosophy to create works that reflect silence and surrender.

Photography
As a photographer, Klien has captured numerous models and personalities both in Brazil and abroad. Her portrait books capture the essence of her subjects with unique depth, and her fashion campaigns and editorials are widely recognized.

Exhibitions
Klien's work has been exhibited several times in Brazil and abroad. In Berlin, she held a solo exhibition and participated in four group exhibitions. Her works have also been displayed in New York, Buenos Aires (arteBA) with Emmathomas Gallery (now Kogan Amaro), London at the Saatchi Gallery, and various Art Biennials in Italy, including Salerno, Firenze, and Rome.
