Marcos Duarte

Marcos Duarte (born 1967, Rio de Janeiro, RJ) is a Brazilian sculptor who lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. He began his training in three-dimensional studies in 2009 at the Escola de Artes Visuais (EAV/Parque Lage), under the guidance of João Carlos Goldberg. Wood is a decisive component in his sculptural expression, and his artistic trajectory seeks to restore its essential status as a fundamental material in the construction of society.

Duarte is known for his sculptures that blend traditional and contemporary techniques, utilizing wood to explore its texture, form, and cultural significance. His works often engage with themes such as sustainability, the relationship between humans and nature, and the social history of wood as a material for construction and art.
