Manezinho Araújo
(Cabo de Santo Agostinho, PE, 1910 – São Paulo, SP, 1993)
Painter, printmaker, screen printer, singer, and composer.

Manuel Araújo moved to Recife in 1916 and attended the Pernambuco School of Commerce in the 1920s. Starting in the 1930s, he dedicated himself to music, excelling as a composer and singer of emboladas, recording around 100 tracks. He began painting in 1950 as a self-taught artist.

In 1957, after settling in Rio de Janeiro, he left his musical career behind to open a restaurant specializing in northeastern Brazilian cuisine, splitting his time between commercial activities and painting. His first solo exhibition took place in 1963 in São Paulo at Galeria Astréia. Two years later, he held another solo exhibition at Galeria Capela.

In 1968, he published an album of serigraphs titled Meu Brasil in Rio de Janeiro, featuring an introduction written by artist Aldemir Martins (1922–2006).
