Lina Kim

Lina Kim is a Brazilian visual artist who lives and works in Berlin. She studied art at Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) in São Paulo and continued her studies at the Art Students League in New York. Kim has participated in several important Biennials, including those in São Paulo, Kwangju, and Havana, where she presented her installations.

Throughout her career, Lina Kim has explored multiple forms of artistic expression, including site-specific works, drawing, photography, and video. Her works have been exhibited in notable shows such as "Focus Istanbul" at Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin (2005), "Lugar Nenhum" at Instituto Moreira Salles in Rio de Janeiro (2013), "Fototrier Stadtmuseum Simeonstift" in Trier (2010), and "At Home" at Columns Gallery in Seoul (2014).

Regarding the series “Rooms”, critic Jon Ha from PLATOON gallery in Seoul comments: "When I first saw her photographs, I felt somewhat shocked... breathless. Around us were photographs of empty rooms, each with a window showing a natural landscape. I believe her eyes can capture something different, something hidden behind the scenes, a feeling of absence, of extinct human activity; a place where nature seems to be watching us from outside, leaving us with the impression that we are trapped inside a dilapidated building, detached from our own impressions, in a moment of paused time where nature steps back, observing us as we consume ourselves and disappear in a few decades."
