Juan Tessi

Juan Tessi was born in Lima, Peru in 1972 and currently lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He began his painting studies under Ricardo Garabito in 1989 and received a scholarship to study at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore in 1991, where he earned a BFA with a major in painting in 1994. That same year, he attended the Yale Norfolk Summer Residency. He returned to Argentina in 1998 and began to exhibit individually and in groups both domestically and internationally. In 2010, he participated in the Kuitca Scholarship/UTDT program. Notable group exhibitions include “Absolutely Dark Free Space Background” at the Klemm Foundation and “Some Artists” at the Proa Foundation in 2013, and the 5th Mercosul Biennial in 2005. He has held solo exhibitions in prominent galleries such as Miau Miau and Braga Menéndez in Buenos Aires, Casa Triangulo in São Paulo, and MK Galerie in Rotterdam. Since 2009, he has co-organized and coordinated the non-commercial space Mark Morgan Perez Garage with Cristina Schiavi.
