José Paulo Moreira Da Fonseca

José Paulo Moreira da Fonseca (1922-2004) graduated in Law in 1945 and Philosophy in 1948 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. He is considered by literary critics as one of the most significant poets of the 1940s and 1950s, and he was nominated more than once for a seat at the Brazilian Academy of Letters.
José Paulo began painting around 1950 and made his public debut in 1957 at the Modern Art Salon in Rio de Janeiro.
In 1974, he received the prestigious Jabuti Award from the Brazilian Book Chamber in the poetry category for his book "Light and Shadow."
