José Moraes

José Machado de Moraes (Rio de Janeiro, RJ, 1921 - São Paulo, SP, 2003). Painter, sculptor, engraver, and illustrator.

José Machado de Moraes graduated in painting from the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes (Enba) in Rio de Janeiro in 1941. During his studies, he took painting classes with Quirino Campofiorito, who had a significant influence on his artistic development. His work encompasses various techniques and styles, including painting, sculpture, engraving, and illustration, showcasing his remarkable versatility in different forms of artistic expression.

Throughout his career, Moraes participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Brazil and abroad. He was an active figure in the art scenes of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, contributing to important movements and art institutions.
