Jorge Pereira

Jorge Pereira, born in 1935 in La Plata, Buenos Aires, is an artist dedicated to exploring the plastic arts within Constructive Art, advancing concepts from the avant-garde of 1945. In 1960, he propelled the creation of group VI, aimed at the more rigorous concretion of art. Between 1964 and 1968, he was the founding coordinator of the Visual Communication Design Department at the Institute of Art Directors (IDA) in Buenos Aires, developing courses and exhibitions of creative photography in collaboration with Herbert Bayer from the Bauhaus. From 1969 to 1975, he served as an adjunct professor of Visual Communication Design at the National University of La Plata’s School of Design, where he conducted experimental kinetic works with light and movement, known as LUMO. In 1970, he established the Visual Experimentation Center (CEV), promoting concrete art and photography systems. In 1984, he began experiments exploring the dialectics of form and space, culminating in 1994 in multi-spatial art. Jorge Pereira has an extensive record of national and international exhibitions, standing out for his significant contributions to the visual arts field in Argentina.
