João Carlos Galvão

João Carlos Galvão, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1941, began his artistic training with painting lessons at the age of ten. He studied at the National School of Fine Arts at the University of Brazil from 1964 to 1966. He lived in Paris from 1967 to 1969, where he studied artistic sociology with Jean Cassou at the Sorbonne and visited the workshops of significant artists like Sergio de Camargo, Victor Vasarely, and Ivaral. Galvão's career is rich in individual exhibitions, highlighted by his latest at the Art To Design Gallery in Bologna, Italy, and at Dan Galeria in São Paulo, both in 2008. He participated in several São Paulo Biennials in 1967, 1973, and 1975. Since 2004, he has been a constant presence at "Réalité Nouvelle," a major Paris art fair. His works are featured in public and private collections worldwide, including the Centre Cultural de I'Arsenal in Maubeug, France; Satoru Sato Museum in Tomo, Japan; MOBIL MADI Museum in Budapest, Hungary; and several museums in Brazil, such as the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Contemporary Art Museum in Niterói, and the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art.
