Jacqueline Aronis

Jacqueline Aronis holds a degree in Art Education from the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), specialized in printmaking at the Graduate Program of the Slade School of Fine Art at University College London (UCL), and earned a doctorate in Arts from the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (ECA-USP). Aronis has taught at the European Institute of Design (IED) and the School of Architecture and Urbanism at the City School of São Paulo (AEAU). She lives and works in São Paulo, where she has been teaching drawing courses in her own studio for 18 years. Since the 1980s, Aronis has regularly exhibited her work in Brazil and abroad. Her work is part of significant collections such as the Contemporary Art Museum at USP (MAC-USP), Itaú Cultural Institute (São Paulo), Portland Art Museum (Oregon, USA), Sapporo International Print Biennale (Japan), National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana (Cuba), and Fundación CIEC, Coruña (Spain).

Jacqueline describes her work as having a lyrical dimension expressed through speed and lightness, though not superficial or synthetic. She explores the expressive potential of printmaking techniques, viewing technical procedures as rhythms and timbres that aid in the execution of art. Her creative process is deeply connected with landscape elements and the interaction of time and space. Aronis values the clarity of lines over the overloaded construction of images, seeking harmony between dream and artistic reality, where the dream serves as a fertile ground for generating images and feelings. For her, printmaking is seen not just as image reproduction, but as a reflective and complex practice within her studio environment.
