Ivonaldo Veloso De Melo

Ivonaldo Veloso de Melo (Caruaru, 1943 - São Paulo, June 25, 2016) was a renowned Brazilian naïf painter. In 1962, he moved with his family to São Paulo, where he began painting in 1966. Just two years later, he held his first exhibition, marking the start of his artistic career. In 1968, Ivonaldo moved to Europe, where he lived for five years, participating in major international artistic events such as the Triennial of Bratislava in 1972, the International Art Fair of Dusseldorf in 1973, and the Salon International d'Art Contemporain of Paris in 1973.

His works are featured in significant collections, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), and the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art (MAM), as well as the International Museum of Naïf Art in Rio de Janeiro. Ivonaldo Veloso was also the subject of critical studies by renowned essayists such as Roberto Pontual, Walmir Ayala, and Max Fourny, cementing his prominent place in the Brazilian naïf art scene.
