Iran Teófilo Do Espírito Santo

Iran Teófilo do Espírito Santo was born in Mococa, São Paulo, in 1963. A multimedia artist, his skills include painting, drawing, sculpture, and engraving. In 1986, he graduated in Art Education from the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP/SP), where he studied with renowned artists Nelson Leirner and Regina Silveira, and came close to figures such as Ana Tavares and Mônica Nador. This experience fostered his questioning of the traditional uses of artistic media.

In 1987, he moved to London, where he lived for three years. In 1991, he held his first solo exhibition at the Plug in Inc. Gallery in Winnipeg, Canada, where he also did an artistic residency. Two years later, he was a resident artist at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, United States.

Throughout his career, Iran do Espírito Santo has developed an extensive production and exhibited his works in significant cultural spaces. In 2007, he had a panoramic exhibition organized by the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, in collaboration with the National Museum of the 21st Century Arts (MAXXI/Rome) and the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA/Dublin). Currently, he resides in São Paulo, working as an illustrator and graphic artist.
