Hilton Berredo

Hilton Berredo, born in 1954, is a Brazilian visual artist and performer with a diverse educational background and a rich career filled with achievements. He graduated in architecture from the Gama Filho University in 1978, holds a master's degree in architecture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2007), and is a doctoral candidate in the graduate architecture program (PROARQ) at UFRJ, where he is also a co-editor of the PROARQ journal.

In 2006, Berredo won first place in the Public Ideas Competition - Rocinha Complex Urbanization Project in Rio de Janeiro, as an associate architect with Mayerhoffer & Toledo Architecture. A self-taught oil painter, he honed his skills with renowned teachers and was an assistant to Keith Sonnier in New York.

Berredo has a prominent presence in the national and international art scene, with works exhibited in major biennials and galleries around the world, including São Paulo, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and Buenos Aires. His creations, ranging from rubber sculptures to installations and performances, are featured in the collections of prestigious museums such as the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to painting and sculpture, since 1986, Berredo has been developing a research line in collaboration with dancer Giselda Fernandes, integrating dance, performance, and plastic interventions. He also serves as the Artistic Director of "Os Dois Companhia de Dança", where he contributes as a scenographer and conceptualizer of the company's shows.
