Gonçalo Ivo de Medeiros, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1958, is a renowned painter, watercolorist, draftsman, illustrator, and engraver. The son of writer Lêdo Ivo, Gonçalo grew up surrounded by writers and artists, enriching his artistic perception from a young age. In 1973, he attended the studios of Augusto Rodrigues, Abelardo Zaluar, and Iberê Camargo. He studied painting at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro under the guidance of Aluísio Carvão and Sérgio Campos Melo in 1975. He graduated in Architecture from the Federal Fluminense University and served as a professor at the MAM/RJ's Department of Educational Activities and as a visiting professor at the School of Fine Arts at UFRJ. Additionally, he worked as an illustrator and visual programmer for renowned publishers. He has held numerous individual and collective exhibitions, both in Brazil and internationally, and in 2000, he designed the set for the TV Cultura program Metrópolis.
