Gabriel Nehemy

Gabriel Nehemy (São Paulo, 1979) is an artist based in São Paulo, Brazil. From the beginning of his career, Nehemy has been prominent in the Brazilian art scene for his intense color explorations and expressive techniques. In 2018, he was selected to exhibit at the Palácio das Artes in the Salão de Praia Grande and participated in the Kaaysa artistic residency. His second solo exhibition took place at Aura Arte Contemporânea in 2017, curated by Julia Lima. A year earlier, he held his first individual exhibition in São Paulo at D Concept Art Office, curated by Mario Gioia. In 2016, he also participated in the collective "Works of Fiction" at Art Hall Gallery, with text by Juliana Monachesi. In 2014, he was part of the exhibition program of the Ministry of Culture of Ribeirão Preto at MARP. He won the acquisition award at the Salão de Piracicaba in 2007 with the painting "Forest". Nehemy is known for using vibrant colors and gestural brushstrokes, applied with both brushes and his hands, in a process he describes as cathartic. His works reflect an "organized chaos," inspired by the dynamics of large urban centers and the immense cultural and social diversity found in them.
