Franz Ackermann

Franz Ackermann, using a palette of fluorescent tones, paints from street maps, façades, and landscapes from his global travels with abstract elements that destabilize the viewer and bring a vertiginous speed to his works. His paintings and drawings transcend traditional supports, incorporating photographs, objects, and wooden and steel structures. In large, vibrantly colored panels, Ackermann seems to embrace the scale of advertising and mass communication.

Some of his recent solo exhibitions include "Our Houses" at Galerie Templon, Brussels, Belgium (2019); "Die Aufwertunug der Lage" at Meyer Riegger, Berlin, Germany (2018); "Come On" at Dirimart, Istanbul, Turkey (2017); "Mental Maps" at Kunsthalle Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe, Germany (2014); and "Franz Ackermann: Hills and Doubts" at Berlinische Gallerie, Berlin, Germany (2013).
