Enrico Bianco

Enrico Bianco (Rome, Italy, 1918 - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 2013) was a distinguished painter, printmaker, draftsman, and illustrator. He began his artistic training in Rome under Maud Latour in the 1930s. After moving to Rio de Janeiro, between 1935 and 1937, he studied with the renowned artist Candido Portinari at the Art Institute of the University of the Federal District (UDF). During this time, he collaborated with Portinari on various projects, including the murals at the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) and the panels at the Bank of Bahia. His first solo exhibition was held in 1940 at the Copacabana Palace Hotel. Bianco also worked as an illustrator, notably for the special edition of Olavo Bilac's "Caçada de Esmeraldas" in 1940 and the recording album of Hekel Tavares' symphonic poem "Anhanguera" in 1951.
