Antonio Peticov

Born in 1946 in Assis, São Paulo, is a prominent Brazilian artist known for his work as a draughtsman, engraver, sculptor, and painter. His diverse body of work encompasses various techniques and formats, from painting and drawing to engraving and sculpture.

Peticov is particularly recognized for his impactful artistic installations such as "Balli Ballet" (1982) in Cloudwalk Farm, Connecticut, and "The Big Ladder - Scala Cromatica" (1983) featured at the New York Art Expo.

In 1989, at the 20th São Paulo International Biennial, Peticov introduced the "Natura Project - Rio Pinheiros," aimed at the environmental revitalization of the Pinheiros River through the planting of various tree species. He continued his engagement with environmental issues with the "Natura Forest Project" in 1992, designed for the UN Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro.

One of his most notable works is the mural "Anthropophagic Moment with Oswald de Andrade," created in 1990 at the República subway station in São Paulo, honoring the centennial of the iconic Brazilian writer. In 2003, his legacy was celebrated with the release of "Selected Works" and a corresponding exhibition at the São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand Art Museum (MASP).

Peticov's paintings often explore thematic series such as "Golden Section" and "Day and Night," where he applies concepts from physics and mathematics to the study of colors and light, demonstrating a unique synergy between science and visual art.
