Abigail Vasthi Schlemm

Abigail Vasthi Schlemm (Rio de Janeiro, 1957), known professionally as Abigail Vasthi, is a Brazilian painter and draftswoman whose artistic path has developed between the coast of Rio de Janeiro and the cultural scene of São Paulo. She began her career exhibiting in independent spaces and local galleries in Búzios, where her experimental use of materials and vibrant compositions first drew attention.

Over the years, she has participated in several group exhibitions, including Art Weekend São Paulo in 2018, which helped expand her visibility within the contemporary art circuit. Although she has not yet held a solo exhibition, her works have increasingly appeared on the art market, including international auctions such as the Walter Ginhart Auction House in 2019, where her piece “Guarda-sois” (acrylic on fabric) sold for 616 USD.

Active in cultural projects and art events—especially in São Paulo—Vasthi develops a body of work marked by the combination of techniques, mixed materials, and the exploration of textures, reflecting an intuitive and experimental approach to her creative process.
