Vânia Mignone

Vânia Mignone, born in Campinas, São Paulo, in 1967, lives and works in her hometown. She graduated in Fine Arts from UNICAMP and in Advertising from PUC Campinas, completing her studies in 1989. Since the 1990s, Vânia has explored painting and drawing, two mediums that seamlessly coexist in her artistic practice. Her work is characterized by visual narratives composed of figures, words, and objects arranged harmoniously and without hierarchy on the canvas.

The artist employs a simplified repertoire of everyday elements, such as anonymous faces, chairs, and houseplants, creating a distinctive iconography. Her bold use of paint establishes a solid background for the interplay between image and language. Her color palette, though vibrant, is restrained to ensure that visual excess does not distract from the narratives suggested by her compositions.
