Sergio Augusto Porto
Sergio Augusto Porto's work (Rio de Janeiro, 1946) focuses on the radicalization of the space of artistic experience. Part of a generation of conceptual artists who broke away from the modernist project's paradigms, Porto emerged in the early 1970s by moving away from domesticated art confined to institutional spaces or the studio. Instead, he embraced an environmental and participatory practice. Recognized as one of the pioneers of land art in Brazil, Porto carried out a series of ephemeral interventions in the landscape, which in turn led to installations, objects, and photographic works.
