An Artist Between the Urban and the Lyrical

Born in São Paulo, Maramgoní discovered his passion for art early on, showing precocious talent and an ability with forms and proportions that were remarkable for his age. At 9 years old, he began painting as a self-taught artist, and while still a teenager, he opened his first studio where he taught oil painting techniques to his first students.

Over time, his academic journey led him to explore new artistic horizons, opting for studies in architecture out of personal preference. It was in the Greco-Roman forms that he found new inspiration, connecting deeply with his great love for depicting urban spaces.

His works, done in acrylic on canvas, matured alongside the artist, portraying historical places in São Paulo such as the Vale do Anhangabaú, Paulista Avenue, and the Altino Arantes Building (Banespa). In his urban canvases, Maramgoní's experiences converge, creating a unique artistic language.

Supported by a solid technique, grounded in the canons of academicism and concepts of light and shadow, as well as the dialogue between colors, his art developed, matured, and consolidated. Through his urban visions, Maramgoní engages in dialogue with himself and his audience, turning each new work into an expression of his art in the world. His strokes are affirmations of his artistic language: lyrical at its best moments, abstract in proposing reflections, and deeply urban in taking buildings and cities as subjects of his creative matrix.

"More than discussing art, the artist needs to be engaged with what they do, especially in their pursuit of technical improvement and a line of work that satisfies them as an aesthetic inquiry," reflects Maramgoní.
