Lucas Arruda

Lucas Arruda graduated in Fine Arts from Faculdade Santa Marcelina (FASM) in São Paulo. Since the beginning of his career, he has developed a distinctive painting practice centered on the landscape, investigating memory, atmosphere, and perception through intimate and contemplative compositions.

Among his notable solo exhibitions are "Deserto-Modelo" at I-20 Gallery, New York (2011), and "Lucas Arruda" at Mendes Wood, São Paulo (2009). His work has also been featured in significant group exhibitions, including "Os Primeiros 10 Anos" and "Energias na Arte" at the Instituto Tomie Ohtake (São Paulo, 2011 and 2008), "Temporada de Projetos" at Paço das Artes (São Paulo, 2011), "Vistas a perder de vista" at Galeria Penteado (Campinas, 2010), and "De Passagem" at Mendes Wood (São Paulo, 2009).

In 2012, Arruda was nominated for the PIPA Prize, one of Brazil's leading awards recognizing emerging and established contemporary artists. He lives and works in São Paulo, where his artistic practice remains primarily focused on painting.
