Liliane Dardot

Liliane Marie Luce Dardot Magalhães Carneiro is a renowned Brazilian painter, draftsman, printmaker, and professor. In 1965, she decided to join the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) after abandoning plans to study architecture. She graduated in 1968 and, the following year, began teaching drawing at the same institution, a position she held until 1977.

Her participation in group exhibitions began during her undergraduate years. In 1978, she moved to Olinda, where she lived until 1989. During this period, she became part of the Oficina Guaianases de Gravura, one of the most influential and enduring artistic movements in Pernambuco, established in 1974. Her participation in printmaking exhibitions during this phase was significant and helped to consolidate her career in the artistic scene.

In 1989, Liliane returned to Belo Horizonte and, the following year, began teaching lithography at the Guignard School, where she worked until 1997. Her work is widely recognized for its technical quality and conceptual depth, reflecting a career dedicated to both artistic creation and education.
