Giorgia Volpe

Giorgia Volpe is a versatile artist who explores a wide range of media and supports, always placing the human body at the center of her artistic investigations. Her work is notably performative, created from gestures and everyday elements in "polymorphic experimentations." She employs various techniques such as performative actions, textile installations, in situ interventions, video, photography, and digital prints. Her works often address themes such as process, construction and deconstruction, repetition, variation, and accumulation.

The installation "Fatras / Tripas" exemplifies her procedural and participatory work, which gradually fills the exhibition space with cut-outs from old magazines. These cut-outs provoke reflections on the inner and outer, the individual and the collective, and the concepts of process and accumulation, turning gestures into tangible materials. The video displayed in the exhibition, created from actions in downtown São Paulo and Quebec, where Volpe has been residing for seven years, seeks to reflect on how the body can mirror the external environment, reinforcing her commitment to a bodily, plastic, and sensory engagement in art.
