Daniel Feingold

Brazil - 1954

Daniel Feingold, born in 1954 in Rio de Janeiro, is an artist who lives and works between his hometown and New York. Feingold has devoted himself to painting, initially developing works in the 1990s with an ethereal atmosphere and delicate appearance that bestowed a mysterious lightness. Over the past decade, his research has taken a new direction with more vigorous paintings that employ strong colors and large scales, breaking away from the softer tone of his earlier period. His recent works raise questions about perspective, representation, and excess.

Feingold studied Art History with critic Ronaldo Brito at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) from 1988 to 1992 and Art Theory and Painting at the School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage, Rio de Janeiro, in 1989-1990, where he also participated in the 'Núcleo de Aprofundamento', a one-year intensive program, in 1991. In 1993, he received a scholarship from the Brazilian government to pursue his master's degree at Pratt Institute in New York. He participated in the 5th Mercosul Biennial in Porto Alegre, RS, in 2005.
