Augusto Sampaio

Born in Recife, Brazil, in 1954, is an esteemed painter, designer, and printmaker. He graduated in visual communication from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) between 1974 and 1977, where he began to solidify his artistic style. Earlier, he studied drawing and painting with mentors such as Rubens Sacramento, Noêmia Victor, and Vera Victor in Olinda, from 1964 to 1967.

Sampaio is renowned for his striking engravings and his profound engagement with the plastic language, which he began developing and refining from his early years of education. His unique techniques and expressions position him as a significant figure in Brazilian contemporary art.
