Born in São Paulo in 1926, was a distinguished Brazilian painter, draftsman, and graphic artist. He initially pursued an academic career in civil engineering but soon shifted his focus to the arts, studying at the Free School of Fine Arts in São Paulo under the direction of Flávio Motta. He deepened his studies in painting with Waldemar da Costa and Flexor and learned engraving techniques at the São Paulo Museum of Art Assis Chateaubriand (MASP) with artists Poty and Darel.

Maluf participated in the first industrial design course in Latin America at the Institute of Contemporary Art (IAC) of MASP, where he was a student of Sambonet. During this period, he was profoundly influenced by constructive art, especially by the works of Max Bill displayed at the 1st São Paulo International Biennial in 1951 and at MASP in 1952.

Maluf was characterized by his constructive tendency, which permeated both his graphic art and visual design. He gained prominence by winning the competition for the poster of the 1st São Paulo International Biennial, considered a milestone in Brazilian graphic design. He also worked on mural paintings and modular elements, often collaborating with renowned architects like Vilanova Artigas. His work continues to exert a significant influence on Brazilian art.
