Anna Letycia

Anna Letycia (Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, 1929) was a distinguished Brazilian artist, recognized for her work as a printmaker and painter. She began her artistic training at the Escolinha de Arte do Brasil, where she studied woodcut under Oswaldo Goeldi. Later, she pursued painting with Ivan Serpa, becoming part of the Grupo Frente, a pivotal movement in the development of concrete art in Brazil.

In 1959, she joined the printmaking workshop at the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM/RJ), directed by Edith Behring, further refining her practice and expanding her visual repertoire. Her work stood out for its consistent experimentation in printmaking—particularly woodcut—combining technical precision with an innovative approach.

Throughout her career, Anna Letycia held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, establishing herself as one of the most significant figures in Brazilian modern art. Her legacy is defined by mastery of technique and the ability to renew traditional printmaking methods, bringing them into new expressive dimensions.
