Ana Sant'Anna

Ana Sant'Anna

Is a visual artist born and based in Salvador, Bahia. She holds a master's degree in Communication and Semiotics from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), with a research focus on the Creation Process in Communication and Culture, and a bachelor's degree in Museology from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). Her artistic production explores the languages of painting, photography, and drawing, stemming from a discomfort with excesses and a resultant flight when confronted with issues of accumulation.

This flight guides her work towards an exploration of emptiness, minimality, and the conveyance of silence and simplicity through nature and her surrounding context. Themes such as time, ephemerality, the unknown, existence, memory, landscape, and space traverse her work. Using these themes as starting points, Ana Sant’Anna seeks to translate abstract concepts guiding her research into a visual language. Her works feature an almost dreamlike atmosphere, characterized by a sense of rest and lightness, striving to break free from exaggerations to discuss what emanates from the invisible and is not so obviously apparent to the eye
