Ana Elisa Gonçalves

Ana Elisa Gonçalves

Is a visual artist born and based in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Her work investigates intimate experiences that echo collective realities, exploring the interplay between memory and the body. Ana Elisa keenly observes the oral traditions around her and aims to highlight everyday life, emphasizing feminine experiences and the contradictions of her native region.

She graduated in Visual Arts from the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Minas Gerais and has showcased her work in prestigious venues such as Inhotim in Brumadinho, Galeria Lago, Fundação Clóvis Salgado, FUNARTE MG, and the SESIMinas/FIEMG Cultural Center.

Influenced by the tradition of clay in the riverine community of Salto da Divisa in the Jequitinhonha Valley, where her maternal family originated, and by the Mineiro Baroque from the traditions of Ouro Preto, her paternal family’s hometown, Ana Elisa's creations often transcend materiality. These two extremes of Minas Gerais shape her subjectivity and guide her artistic production.
