1969

Marcos Eduardo de Cais is a Brazilian artist born in São Paulo in 1969.

Cais received a bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Faculdade Santa Marcelina in 2001, in the same year and institution, the artist presented his first solo exhibition, A Trama Rarefeira. His work used fabric to create knots. This material stands out in a large part of the artist’s pieces, appearing in photography, video and collage and also in the form of prints or decorative patterns that help compose the artist’s assemblage and drawings.

In 2005, Cais participated in the exhibit program at the Centro Cultural São Paulo. In this period, the artists used day-to-day objects to be a part of his works in video and photography, he uses them in relation to his own body, which also appears in his work. Installations with these materials (chairs, cups, glasses, utensils, fabrics and vases) are done with more frequency in the 2000’s and were shown in exhibitions both in Brazil and abroad. In 2007 the artist receives prizes at the Salão de Arte de Ribeirão Preto (Sarp) and the Fundação Iberê Camargo. In 2012, Cais participated in the 30th Bienal Internacional de São Paulo.
