Cinthia Marcelle

Cinthia Marcelle

Brazil - 1974

Cinthia Marcelle, a graduate of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, is an artist primarily working in photography, video, and installation. She is known for staging improbable uses of everyday materials and artifacts, seeking to explore new possibilities of order, often revealing the chaos hidden beneath the world's usual order. Her works are characterized by a concise visual language, often using fixed wide shots to create a sense of alienation in everyday environments.

Marcelle has participated in several international biennials, including Sharjah in 2013 and 2015, São Paulo in 2010, and Havana in 2006. Among her major solo exhibitions are "Dust Never Sleeps" at Secession in Vienna (2014), "Temporary Zone" at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro (2013), "See to be Seen" at the PinchukArtCenter in Kiev (2011), and "Zero de Conduta" at Galeria Vermelho in São Paulo (2011). She currently lives and works in São Paulo, continuing to develop her artistic research that challenges traditional perceptions of space and materiality.
