Carlos Prado

Brazil - 1908 - 1992

Carlos Prado was a Brazilian painter, engraver, illustrator, sculptor and architect. Born in São Paulo in 1908, Prado has architecture degree from the Polytechnic School of São Paulo. After graduating, Prado travelled to Europe and further studies architecture and urban studies. Back in São Paulo, the artist founded the Clube dos Artistas Modernos alongside famed artists such as Di Cavalcanti, Antonio Gomide and Georg Elpons to name a few. The artist is known for his paintings and drawings with socially relevant themes as well as nudes and still life. From 1943 onwards, Prado had a number of important solo exhibitions and participated in major Brazilian art fairs, such as the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo and various editions of the International Bienal in the same city.
