Antônio Hélio Cabral

Born in Marília in 1948, is a renowned Brazilian visual artist known for his diverse work in painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. Cabral began his artistic training in Rio de Janeiro, where he worked as a technical draftsman while dedicating himself to the study and practice of visual arts. He was deeply influenced by his grandfather, from whom he learned basic drawing techniques at a young age.

Academic Career and Teaching:

Throughout his career, Cabral has distinguished himself as an educator, significantly contributing to the training of new artists at Arstudium, the Lasar Segall Museum, and the São Paulo State Art Gallery. His pedagogical approach is characterized by encouraging experimentation and respecting the creative individuality of each student.

Exhibitions and Recognitions:

Cabral's works are part of the permanent collections of major Brazilian cultural institutions, including the São Paulo State Art Gallery and the São Paulo Art Museum. His works have been featured in various solo and group exhibitions, both in Brazil and internationally, and he was honored with a retrospective at the National Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro in 1996. In recognition of his cultural impact, Cabral was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture in 2013.
