Anna Maria Maiolino, born in 1942 in Italy, is a distinguished engraver, painter, sculptor, multimedia artist, and designer. Between 1958 and 1960, she studied at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas Cristóbal Rojas, and in 1960, she moved to Brazil. In 1961, she continued her studies in engraving at the National School of Fine Arts (Enba) in Rio de Janeiro and quickly became involved in the New Figuration movement, which contested abstraction and was actively engaged in Brazil's political discussions.

Throughout her career, Maiolino has participated in numerous significant exhibitions, both solo and collective. Her solo exhibitions include a show at Galeria G. in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1965, and "In Everything – Entirely" in 2019 at the Luisa Strina Gallery in São Paulo. Among her notable group exhibitions are the "II Salon of Young Painters" in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1958, and "The Years We Lived in Danger" at the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in 2019.

Maiolino's work is part of important collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (MAM Rio), the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, the Cisneros Foundation in New York, and the Galician Center for Contemporary Art in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Her contribution to the visual arts is widely recognized, reflecting her unique ability to merge cultural and artistic boundaries.
