The Traverse of Color and Form in Contemporary Art

André Mendes, born in Curitiba in 1979, is a Brazilian artist whose education includes Graphic Design from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná and specialization in artistic drawing from the Institut Superior de Disseny y Escola de la Imatge IDEP in Barcelona. After gaining professional experience in Spain, Mendes held his first solo exhibition in 2006 in Porto, Portugal.

Throughout his career, Mendes has participated in several national and international exhibitions, notably at events such as Nasi Campur in Singapore, Tropikos in Bangkok, Thailand, Art Expo Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, Colorflow 2012 in Barcelona, and Elementares 2012 in Curitiba. His work has also been showcased at the prestigious Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, in the exhibition "The State of the Art."

Currently, Mendes lives and works in Curitiba, where his research and artistic production are focused on painting. He is particularly interested in the materiality of color and its behavior as a fluid, exploring chance in his creative process. This interest spills over to other surfaces of the surrounding world, incorporating sculptural and architectural aspects into his works.

André Mendes is recognized for his ability to manipulate color and form to create works that challenge conventional perception, inviting the viewer to explore new aesthetic and sensory dimensions.
