An Artistic Voyager

Amadeu Luciano Lorenzato, born in Belo Horizonte, MG, in 1900 and passed away in the same city in 1995, was a notable Brazilian painter and sculptor whose life and work were marked by diverse cultural experiences and travels. He started his journey in the art world as a painter's assistant in 1910, a profession he pursued until 1920 when he moved with his family to Arsiero, Italy, working on the city's reconstruction as a wall painter.

His passion for art led him to enroll at the Reale Accademia delle Arti in Vicenza in 1925. Lorenzato's journey expanded further when, the following year, he moved to Rome, spending two years alongside Dutch painter and poster artist Cornelius Keesman, with whom he shared artistic experiences during weekends.

In 1928, Lorenzato and Keesman embarked on a unique adventure, traveling by bicycle through Eastern Europe, crossing countries such as Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Turkey. The trip ended in 1930, and Lorenzato parted ways with Keesman to move to Paris, where he worked on setting up pavilions for the International Colonial Exhibition.

After a period of return to Italy, Lorenzato came back to Brazil in April 1948. The following year, he worked at the Industry and Commerce Exhibition in Petrópolis and later moved with his family to Belo Horizonte, resuming his activity as a wall painter until 1956. After an accident prevented him from continuing in civil construction, Lorenzato dedicated himself entirely to painting.

In the 1960s, his works were introduced to critic Sérgio Maldonado, who later introduced them to Palhano Júnior, the organizer of Lorenzato's first individual exhibition, held in 1967. Lorenzato's life and work are testimonies to a rich and diverse artistic journey, reflecting his experiences and encounters around the world.
