Albano Fernandes Afonso, born in 1964 in São Paulo, is a renowned visual artist who studied at the Alcântara Machado Art College (Faam) in Santos. His artistic career came into prominence in 1994 when he held his first solo exhibition at the São Paulo Cultural Center (CCSP). In the same year, Albano was awarded at the 21st Santo André Contemporary Art Salon, where he also received the acquisition prize from the Santo André Museum of Contemporary Art, solidifying his presence in the Brazilian art scene.

In 2006, his career gained international recognition with the publication of a book about his work by Dardo Publishing, in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Albano Afonso's work is characterized by his exploration of light and shadow, creating visual dialogues that challenge perception and invite reflection. His legacy is a significant contribution to contemporary art, blending technique, innovation, and a profound inquiry into the nature of image and visuality.
