Alan Fontes, born in Ponte Nova, Minas Gerais, in 1980, is a prominent figure in the Brazilian visual arts scene, working as an artist, researcher, and painting professor at the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Holding a Master's degree in Visual Arts from the same institution, Fontes lives and works in Belo Horizonte, where he develops a body of work that navigates between painting, installation, and academic research.

His notable solo exhibitions and projects include "Black House" at VoltaNY, New York (2018); "National Exhibition" at Luciana Caravello Gallery, Rio de Janeiro (2018); "The Book of the Wind" at Emma Thomas Gallery, New York (2016); and "Poetics of a Landscape – Memory in Mutation" at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, Rio de Janeiro (2016). Fontes has also participated in significant group shows, such as "What Emanates from Water" at Carbono Gallery, São Paulo (2019), and "The Purposes of Contemporary Art in Brazil" at MAC USP, São Paulo (2017).

In addition to his exhibitions, Fontes has engaged in artistic residencies like "Painting Beyond Painting" at CEIA, Belo Horizonte (2006), and "Baró Residency", São Paulo (2014). His contributions to the visual arts have been recognized with awards such as the Pampulha Grant 5th edition (2014) and the 1st Foco Bradesco/ArtRio Award (2013).

Alan Fontes' journey is characterized by a continuous search for new forms of expression and dedication to the training of new artists, consolidating his position as one of the most influential voices in contemporary Brazilian art.
